Amount of a,s and b,s to get a Scholarship for College

1) Not all scholarships are academic based. You might try looking into other avenues if you feel your GPA alone isn’t enough to get you a scholarship. You might try athletics, cultural heritage scholarships, some philanthropists offer scholarships if you graduated from a certain high school or intend to go to a certain college. You might also try looking into the program you plan to major in. Many departments know of national societies in that particular major that offer scholarships. For example, my major was medical laboratory science, and I received a scholarship from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), who we get our national certification from.

2) If you are wanting to know the amount of A’s and B’s to get, it depends. Some schools want a mininum GPA of a 2.75. Others want a 3.0. Even others want a 3.5. A scholarship I’m interested in for grad school, for example, wants a minimum GPA of a 3.5. In other words, they only look at giving graduate scholarships to those who graduated with honors for their bachelors degrees.

3) It also may depend on your high school class rank. Some schools grant automatic admission and even some scholarships if you graduate in the top 10% of your high school class.

Your best bet is to talk to the financial aid office of the school you plan to attend. They will be able to give you more information.
