What can I do to prepare for college ?
I’m 15, almost 16 years, and in the second year in high school. I have two questions about the university:
Q. 1: Everyone always tells me that I must make preparations for college and what not, and no one has told me how. I want to get in this good college in New York, but I fear it will not happen and the future, I did not plan. What can I do to prepare for the university itself, and how can I prepare financially?
Q. 2: How does a college do? For example: the majors / minors, living, frat, taking courses, application, financial aid, scholarships, etc..
I know that all universities are different, if it helps the college I plan to attend the institution of culinary education in New York, NY.
Going deep on everything, because everyone contributes something. Also, if you have any kind of tips or advice, it will probably be taken into account.
1. Study hard. Do your homework. Get good grades. Participate in extra-curricular activities.
2. Take the SAT test 2 or 3 times. Perhaps like this: junior year spring, early fall senior year, late fall senior year?
3. Research colleges on the internet. Research colleges by going to the bookstore and looking over the college guidebooks. Skim over 5 different guide books looking for colleges that meet your criteria. Buy one of the books.
4. During the summer, visit your favorite schools and take a tour and get an interview.
5. Save some money for college. Talk to your parents about how they can help you pay for college.
6. You’ll have to fill out applications for your colleges in the fall and winter of your senior year. You can find the deadline for this years applications in the Admissions section of the college’s website.
7. Why don’t you read some of the information on the College Board’s web site about SAT tests and college admissions. I believe its www.collegeboard.com.
8. Do you have relatives who went to college? Go ask them some of these questions.
9. Does the Inst of Cul Education have dormitories? or do the students live in their own apartments? I don’t know. New York City is expensive to live in.
